Citizen's meeting - Is anyone Listening? Mar 22, 2010

You've given your feedback, you've told people your feelings, but your concerns are going unanswered and your wishes ignored.

Is anyone listening?

Is the development of the Southlands a foregone conclusion, much like our School Closures, Perimeter Road Construction and Power Lines Upgrade?

A group of concerned private citizens, have rented South Delta Senior Secondary Auditorium and organized a public forum on March 22nd at 7:00pm. The purpose of this meeting is to allow the citizens of Tsawwassen an opportunity to voice their opinions, concerns, and ideas regarding the Tsawwassen Area Plan. It is also meant to be a venue to ensure people are aware of the impact of “urbanization” of the Southlands.

A second series of public information meetings (“forums”) has been scheduled for Delta staff to present their “IDEAS” document to Tsawwassen residents. Quoting from Delta’s website:

“Phase II of public consultation on the Tsawwassen Area Plan will be starting on Tuesday, March 4, 2010. As in Phase I of the public consultation, we will be seeking your thoughts on how the Tsawwassen Area Plan should be updated.
Discussion will be based on the proposed policy directions for the updated Plan as described in an “Ideas” document which will be available on [Delta’s} website the week of February 22, 2010. The proposed policy directions are based on research done in response to various issues that arose, presentations made to the Tsawwassen Area Planning Committee and discussions with Delta Council.”
